My passion started young. I loved sports and had an interest in how the human body worked. I decided in the 4th grade when we were dropping my older sister off at Michigan State University for her freshman year, that this is where I was going to school. Three years later we dropped my brother off and it just fueled the fire. My senior year in high school I had to pick a major when I was applying to MSU I had no idea what options I had that could combine my love of sports and anatomy. Then I ran across Athletic Training. It was everything I was looking for, the perfect balance that combined both of my passions. For 4 years I had the privilege to tape, stretch, massage and rehabilitate Big Ten athletes, taught by our staff trainers and talented Physicians. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Kinesiology and became a Licensed Athletic Trainer. This was just the beginning.
After my first job in a sports medicine clinic and high school, I shifted my focus to fitness and became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. I worked as a personal trainer and then Assistant Manager of the Personal Training department at Lifetime Fitness. A few years later I honored the desire to return to my Sports Medicine roots and I attended Massage Therapy school. After massage school I felt it was time to create a company that could offer everything I envisioned for my clients. Perfect Balance, Inc. was born out of my love of fitness and restoring body balance.
Here we are today..
My business has evolved over the last several years and has really come full circle. I use my background in Sports medicine and strength training to aid in my current therapeutic massage practice. Over the years I've witnessed first hand the impact of chronic stress and trauma on both the physical and emotional levels and I wanted to learn how to facilitate the healing process further. This is where I found Somatic Experiencing (SE). SE opened my eyes to a whole new aspect of healing. I wanted to find a way to share SE with not only my current clients but to expand beyond massage and into the realm of coaching. My training as a Health coach through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute has provided an amazing education on not only important health information but just as importantly how to understand where our clients are and how to best facilitate sustainable change. I decided to further my coaching education through INLP and became a certified master of neuroscience-linguistic programming as well as Mental health coach.
