John F. Barnes Myofascial Release approach is a safe and gentle effective therapy that brings about long-lasting effects. Restriction in the fascia puts a tremendous amount of pressure on pain-sensitive structures creating back pain, migraines, sciatica, TMJ, disc problems, neck pain, etc. These structures do not show up on standard tests such as X-rays and CAT scans leaving many people with undiagnosable pain. Gentile sustain pressure applied to the tissue will allow for the fascia to elongate and release the restriction.
What is fascia? Imagine a spider web, cotton candy, or a sweater of connective tissue primarily made up of collagen that connects muscle, bone, nerve, arteries, veins, and our organs. It connects us head to toe, inside out, much like the yarn in a sweater.
What causes fascial restrictions? In a healthy state, the fascia has the ability to stretch and move without restriction. Trauma, both physical and emotional as well as poor posture and repetitive stress causes the fascia to lose its pliability. It becomes tight and restricted and then exerts excessive pressure that produces pain and affects our flexibility and stability
The fascia blaster is a tool designed to release fascia restrictions. It is a self-care tool that is available online for anyone to purchase. A fascia blaster is a simple tool that can bring about profound results. There are several different options to choose from depending on what area of the body you are working on.

The Graston technique is a form of manual therapy known as soft tissue instrument-assisted mobilization. The Graston Technique can help reduce pain and restore normal function by breaking down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. This creates a better healing environment and faster recovery. There are 6 stainless steel tools with custom-designed rounded edges. the sensitivity of the tools allows for identifying restrictions in the tissue as well as treating restrictions. Some of the common conditions treated with the Graston Technique are tendonitis, IT band pain, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff and back pain.
Graston Technique, How does it work?
Cupping has a long history dating back to 1550 B.C. The Egyptian medical textbooks discuss the many applications to accelerate the 'healing crisis' of disease. The Egyptians introduced cupping to the Greeks who then spread this technique throughout Europe and the Americas. The Chinese have been using cupping for thousands of years to dispel the stagnation of blood and chi. Cupping was one used to divert blood flow during surgery.
Today a variety of cup sizes can be used to draw inflammation out from deep in the tissue. Cups provide a suction that will bring circulation to the surface of the skin. This increase in the local circulation provides a great opportunity for topicals to be applied that will enable greater absorption into the body. It will also bring nourishment to the tissue and toxins to be carried away by the lymph. Tense muscles soften, pain decreases and fascial restrictions and scar tissue release.
Cupping is not an irritant to the skin. It draws inflammation by pulling blood from the arteries to the capillaries. The blood returns via the veins to be cleansed.
Benefits:
Cups may be left on or "parked" on restrictive tissue for a few minutes, long draining movements or in a circular motion to release knots and tension. The sedating effect on the nervous system can induce a deep state of relaxation.

Trigger points are areas of spasm or knots in the muscle fiber that causes pain to be referred to a more distant part of the body. Muscle overload can cause the formation of trigger points. Overload may be a result of acute, sustained, or repetitive strain. Acetylcholine is released causing an influx of calcium into the sarcomeres creating contraction and the knots evolve into a trigger point.
Compression is used directly on the trigger point and usually takes 30-90 seconds to release. It is then followed up with massage strokes to the area. An understanding of the trigger point referral pattern is important and assists in following the point of pain to the originating muscle to locate the trigger point and release by applying direct pressure.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage uses slow sustained pressure targeting deeper layers of the muscle and connective tissue. It is most effective when the superficial layers above the tissue have been released. Deep tissue massage can break up scar tissue, reduce tension in muscles, promote healing by increasing local blood flow, improve stiffness and reduce pain.
